A taste of Once Bitten, Twice Shy; Book Two of Wolf Smitten

A knock at the door broke his reverie, and he was wrenched back to the issue at hand: Aubree had arrived. “You can do this,” he told his reflection, before shaking his head and walking out of the bathroom. Another knock briefly stirred anger before he reeled his feelings back in. It was not Aubree’s fault, she was probably just eager for a coffee. Besides, she was completely unaware that he was no longer available to her. Placing his hand on the doorknob, Derek braced himself and plastered a smile on his face. He was not in the mood for visitors, but he felt obliged to entertain Aubree after such a long trip. He opened the door and was almost knocked backwards as he was rushed by the tall brunette who proceeded to throw her arms around his neck and plant a kiss on his lips. Gently grabbing her by the hips, he stepped back and broke yet another kiss. Watching her lips move to a pout he fought the urge to sigh in exasperation. He had spent seven years with this woman and had even considered proposal. They had only been apart for six months and he already found her tedious and overbearing. What had changed in that time? He knew the answer to that question; he had found Krissy.
