All she has ever known is pain.
-->
Raised living in a lab as an experiment by twisted scientists, Talia has lost all hope at ever having a life worth living. When the lab goes under, Talia is given a chance at escape and finds herself in the strong embrace of heavy metal guitarist, David.
All he has ever known is music.
David has no idea what to do with the beautiful female who showed up at his doorstep. Having always put his band first, he has no experience with females. And while he knows he should be weary of her, he can't seem to break the strange attraction he feels towards her.
All they need is strength.
With Talia's captors on the hunt, both David and her will have to muster all the courage they can to protect a future for either one of them. But with hardly any experience in combat, will the two have enough strength be able to defeat the strong forces ahead?

Despite this, she didn’t let go of David’s hand, not yet wanting to leave the safety of his touch. Taking a deep breath, she looked over at him and smiled softly.
“Thank you again for all of this, David,” she whispered.
“It's no problem at all,” he smiled.
She blushed at that. “I hope that remains true.”
“Well if it doesn’t,” he offered with a smirk, “I think it’s only fair to say that any problems that come my way have even more problems in store for them.”
Though she didn’t understand what he meant, Talia felt safer for it all the same. Riding on the warmth and happiness and comfort, she leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. While she had no experience (and she hoped it didn’t show) with kissing, she wanted to give him a token of her gratitude. It was, after all, how it was done in all of the romance novels. Common or not in stories, though, she felt him stiffen against her kiss and she pulled back, nervous that she had done something wrong.
“I… I’m sorry,” she whispered. “I just wanted to show my thanks…”
“It’s fine,” he said after a moment, touching the spot on his cheek and smiling warmly. “I’m just not used to… well, anything like this.”
“I’m glad I’m not the only one,” Talia said, feeling both the warmth of a blush and a whole different type wash over her.
“Then I suppose I won’t worry too much about trying this,” he said before pressing a kiss to her lips.
The soft brush of his lips had her frozen in the moment. It felt perfect.
Romance novels, she realized, had a funny way of glossing over the best parts.
Finally, though she couldn’t be sure how much time had just passed, David’s lips left hers and the two shared another beautiful silence together.
“Get some sleep, Talia,” David said in a comforting whisper as he helped her climb into the bed. “I’ll be right in the other room if you need me, okay?”
Talia blushed again and nodded—realizing that she was experiencing the most warmth she ever had on the exact same night that she’d experienced the most cold—and wormed her way under the covers. When she was settled in, David offered her another first by telling her to sleep well before heading back into the other room. Once alone—but, she realized, not truly alone for the first time in her life—Talia moved her fingers to her lips and brushed the spot where David had kissed her. In the few short hours she’d known him he’d given her so many new experiences that she’d never even known she didn’t know about, but among of the things he’d shown her was the one thing she’d long known about but still never believed she’d ever come to experience.
David had given her a kiss.
The lips that David’s own had just touched curled into another smile—a gesture that was becoming so common for Talia that her cheeks were beginning to ache—and she
quickly fell into another first for her:

A genuine and peaceful sleep.

Hi! As you may know (or see haha), my name’s Megan J. Parker. I’m currently an international bestselling author of
paranormal romance and urban fantasy, but I dabble in various genres including contemporary romance, erotica, fantasy, and horror. I’m also a graphic designer and own my own company called EmCat Designs.

How long have you been a writer and
how did you come to writing?

I’ve been officially a writer since
2013 when my husband and fellow author, Nathan Squiers, finally pushed me to
finish a chapter one. I always loved to write short stories or unfinished
chapter ones (I swear, I could probably have a FULL novel if I collected all
the unfinished chapter ones together). However, my husband finally pushed me to
finish and I was able to publish my first novel, Scarlet Night, late 2013.

How did you come up with this
storyline?

Well, funny thing, I LOVED the
character David from my husband’s Death Metal series (that’s right! David isn’t
technically my character). After some pleading (which really wasn’t that much),
Nathan agreed to let me use David and write this story. I decided I wanted to
write a heroine who had absolutely no idea about the world outside of her
“cell” and that her only basis was from reading romance novels. The dynamic
between David and Talia really helped me to tell their story.

What are the best and the worst
aspects of writing?

I think for me, at least, the best
part of writing is being able to use my creativity and just sit down and tell a
story. I’ve always loved storytelling in some form or another (movies, books,
comics, etc.) and it’s honestly extremely therapeutic for me. For the worst
parts, however, it’s sticking to telling one story. My mind is always coming up
with new ideas (hence all the chapter ones), and I think that I have trouble
trying to sit and work on ONE concept only.

What are 3 of your favorite quotes
from **Dark Melody**?
-->

Talia shook her head, but smiled
all the same at the chance to learn a new word. “Huh,” she repeated, “Huh. Huh. Huh? Huh!” she made herself laugh
as she voiced the last repetition with sternness and realized it sounded like
an angry doctor’s sigh. Catching David still staring, she felt another wave of
heat but felt the tug of her own smile. “It’s a fun word.”

“You are so… different,” he said,
still smiling.

Though she’d been confused by the
terminology the first time she heard it, she saw now what David meant by it.
And, both hearing and seeing music for the first time in her life, Talia
decided that she didn’t like a word. David didn’t play music. He commanded
music! He forged it, he conjured it! He was music!

“Then I suppose I won’t worry too
much about trying this,” he said before pressing a kiss to her lips.

The soft brush of his lips had her
frozen in the moment. It felt perfect.

Romance novels, she realized, had a
funny way of glossing over the best parts.

Finally, though she couldn’t be
sure how much time had just passed, David’s lips left hers and the two shared
another beautiful silence together.

What do you do when you don’t write?
Like in “Real Life”

My husband and I love to go to the
movies, so if we aren’t out seeing a new movie, we are typically exploring the
local comic shop, going to our tattoo/piercing shop, or spending time with our
friends/family. We recently fell back in love with laser tag and we found a
nearby laser tag place that is for adults only after 9PM so that’s been our
Saturdays.

Tell us about your other books?

I have several other books
available, but the ones that I’m most known for are my Scarlet Night books.
It’s a full trilogy (finished!) & book one is free on all e-book outlets.
It’s a paranormal romance/urban fantasy with a “feisty” female vampire and her beastly
lover. The first book is a slightly based on a Beauty and the Beast retelling.
I also have a paranormal romance between a Russian mafia daughter and a male
shifter who works under her father as a cage fighter called “Fighting for You”
(which there will be a sequel for). I’m currently finishing the first book in a
7-part series called “Moonlit Seduction”. The series features seven highlander
shifters searching for their mates to break a curse put upon their family and
each book represents one of the brothers.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoy
Dark Melody & check out some of my other works as well!
